This weekend, Hillcrest Angus will welcome visitors and cattle producers for their annual spring sale. Even if you’re not in the cattle business, it’s a great reminder of the hardworking family farms that help define this area and keep our agricultural heritage strong.

Fifty-five years ago was the last time a crowd gathered at Legion Field in Gate City for a concert. It was 1971 — and the legendary man in black, Johnny Cash, stood on the stage.
For one afternoon, the mountains echoed with music, neighbors filled the stands, and a small town felt the electricity of something unforgettable.
For months now, we’ve been working quietly behind the scenes to bring that feeling back to Scott County.
This July 3rd, something special is coming to Gate City — a summer celebration unlike anything our community has seen in years. Part of America’s 250th anniversary celebration.
But here in Scott County, it will be even more than that – a revival of Southwest Virginia traditions.
One unforgettable summer night.
One county coming together to revive community traditions.
