Sally Pete’s Farmhouse

11912 Nickelsville Hwy., Nickelsville, VA 24271 — Contact: 423-502-5044

Conveniently located in the heart of Nickelsville, Sally Pete’s was built in the early 1900s and is one of the oldest homes in the town of Nickelsville. After sitting vacant for many years, the home was purchased in 2021 by Wendel and Rachel Burke with the consideration of transforming it into a guesthouse for couples, families, and friends to use for an overnight stay, small family gathering, or a special celebration. Additionally, the home has also been frequently used as a unique setting for bridal, birthday, or family photo shoots.

The Burke’s completed a two-year restoration to revive the unique character of the old farmhouse while adding modern amenities. The farmhouse was named after the original owners, Pete and Sally Harstock. Sally, like many of the other local ladies during this time, was referred to not only by her first name, but also her husband’s first name perhaps to identify each local Sally from each other.

Sally Pete’s is chocked full of old house charm and beautiful antiques. A large spacious front porch greets guests with old fashioned rocking chairs to six and relax. The house accommodates 11 guests and has three bedrooms, two full bathrooms and a one-half bathroom. There is a full size living room with a sofa sleeper and twin size day bed, dining room, large kitchen, laundry room/pantry and quaint upper level sitting nook.

Along with the beautiful antiques and hand-craftsmanship, the home offers Smart TVs free WIFI, washer/dryer, outdoor fire pit and grill, a large backyard and plenty of ground level parking and entrances.

Each overnight booking at Sally Pete’s receives a breakfast basket with locally made/locally grown farm fresh goods for guests to enjoy during their stay or take home. The home is only a short drive to the Devil’s Bathtub, Carter Family Fold, Natural Tunnel State Park, Bark Camp Lake, Scott County Horse Park and the Mendota Fire Tower.

The Burkes are planning to offer seasonal events at the home — including holiday home tours, as well as public events where folks may purchase some of Rachel’s homemade soaps, candles or refinished antique furniture.
