Located in the southwestern tip of Virginia, Scott County is a “natural” for music lovers, history buffs, nature enthusiasts and vacationers of all types!

Music :  As the home of A.P. & Sara Carter and Mother Maybelle, Scott County is the true “birthplace” of country music.  A.P. Carter was a collector of songs, and it was through the local hills and hollows that A.P. roamed collecting his songs, such as “Hello Stranger,” “My Clinch Mountain Home,” “Keep on the Sunny Side,” and the well-known “Will the Circle Be Unbroken.

History:  Scott County’s rich history spans more than 8,000 years.  Visitors can walk in the footsteps of famed frontiersman Daniel Boone or see railroad history both at Fannon Railroad Museum and Natural Tunnel State Park, recently named on of the “Top 20 Tunnels” by The Weather Channel.

Nature:  With a world-renowned river and thousands of acres of National Forest, Scott County is a “naturalists” haven.
