Gate City, Virginia
Gate City is the seat of Scott County’s government and serves as the principal gateway into Virginia from east Tennessee and the city of Kingsport. The town is named after a gap in the Clinch Mountain, a “gate” through which both pioneers and Native Americans passed, which is now commemorated with the Daniel Boone Wilderness Driving Trail.
With a population of 2,159, Gate City offers a quiet location with several vintage and antique stores, department stores, hardware stores, supermarkets, restaurants, a park with little league baseball facilities, an elementary, middle and high school, a library, and much more.
