The Venue at Circle V Stables

“Creating a stress-free and magical day” is the goal behind Scott County’s newest wedding / meeting venue – The Venue at Circle V Stables in Nickelsville.

“Your wedding is so important,” explains Owner Wendy Vicars. “We want to make that day totally stress-free and enjoyable for the bride because it goes by so fast. The day is like a blur. We want our brides to have a good time and enjoy the day – not worry about the details. We take care of all that.”

Circle V is located on the Vicars, ten-acre family farm on Racepath Drive, and is a working horse farm complete with four large horses and two miniature ponies. Growing up, daughter, Savannah, rode and showed horses throughout the region. And it was Savannah’s love of horses that led the Vicars to transform the horse barn into a wedding venue.

When Savannah became engaged to Bronson Brewer on Christmas Eve 2022, she asked her parents if she could get married at home. Wendy initially said, “No, please don’t do that to me.” Husband and father, Mark, however, said, “Let’s do it. It’s perfect.”

The Vicars then embarked on a seven-month renovation project to transform their horse barn into Savannah’s dream venue. Thankfully, Wendy has a landscape and interior design background. Together, the family gave the barn a thorough cleaning, laid pavers, added stunning chandeliers and additional string lighting throughout the barn. White lights also hang from the large oak tree just outside the barn’s riding ring. Victorian antique furniture lines the horse barn wall and also makes a stunning accompaniment to bridal portraits.

Transforming the horse barn into a wedding / party venue

Savannah’s day was perfect. The couple was married near dusk, standing in the horse ring with magical white lights flowing from the branches of the huge oak tree next to the riding ring. Friends and family then joined the bridal couple in the horse barn for the reception.

Over the years, several friends had asked to have a wedding on the Vicars property. Aside from Savannah, the only other wedding had been 20 prior. Wendy’s sister, Heather Rand, got married in the Vicars front yard. Following the horse barn’s transformation, Wendy started thinking about opening the property up to the public for weddings, bridal and baby showers, parties, and family reunions.

Word spread fast about The Venue at Circle V Stables. Fall and barn weddings appear to be the newest wedding trend. To date, Circle V is fully booked for September and October, with brides backing up earlier in the summer and later through the year into December.

Savannah and Bronson’s Wedding Day was Perfect

Wedding packages are available at four different levels, from “Simplicity” at $3,200 to the “Dream Come True” at $7,500. As the name implies, the first option is designed for low-key yet elegant wedding. The most expensive option includes the Vicars entire property, including their home and rental of a local Airbnb property.

The venue has a certified wedding planner, event planner, parking attendants and golf cart service. All food must be catered; there is no kitchen on site. Alcohol is permitted with a licensed and incurred bartender in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Wendy also has a list of preferred vendors for photography, music and catering—all of whom are familiar with the property.  She also has flowers and additional décor available for brides or renters to use.

Circle V is a picture-perfect venue and is also a favorite spot for prom photos and other personal photography. For these occasions, the facility can be rented at a set price or an hourly rate.
