Glade City Rounders at Carter Fold Saturday

Glade City Rounders

Saturday, June 9th, 2018, at 7:30 p.m., the Carter Family Fold in Hiltons, Virginia, will present a concert by the Glade City Rounders – an old time jug band.  Admission to the concert is $10 for adults, children 6 to 11 $2, under age 6 free.

The Glade City Rounders blend influences and sounds from old time string band, jug band, and country blues music from old 78 records with their own musical stylings and virtuosity to create a sound that is truly unique. Imagine a barn dance in the middle of the woods where the corn liquor flows as freely as a mountain stream.  That’s just where you would find the Glade City Rounders as they tear the house down with their high energy performance and the crowd dances into the night.  Of course, the corn liquor won’t be flowing at the Fold, but the Rounders will tear the house down and make the world-renowned dancers at the Fold very happy.

The band has four members.  Randy Hill plays doghouse bass and does vocals. ”Squirrel” plays banjo and does vocals.  Josh Smith plays the jug and does vocals. Tennessee Bill plays fiddle and sings.  With three CDs released, the Rounders have performed at Bluegrass Underground, on Music City Roots, and on WSM.  Living in and around Nashville, the group is friends with the Tennessee Mafia Jug Band, Uncle Shuffelo and His Haint Hollow Hootenanny, and the Hogslop String Band.

We are pretty sure Squirrel and Pickle are fast friends – or could be.

If you like Hogslop, the Tennessee Mafia Jug Band, and the Hootenanny, you’ll love the Glade City Rounders.  You can check them out on YouTube or on their site –   Bring all your family and friends out tosee the Glade City Rounders in their first-ever Fold performance.  It goes without saying that you better bring your dancing shoes.  We sure hope they’ll want to come back to see us.  It sounds like the Rounders and the Fold will fit each other like a saddle on a horse. For an evening of some of the best old time music around, come on out and join us at the Fold!
