9 a.m. – Stock Creek Passage. View the tunnel from the inside out. This strenuous walk will include crossing creeks, boulders and rocks, just like the early adventurers. Once inside the tunnel you will hear stories about how the tunnel was formed and see a fault line. Wading attire, a flashlight and a wading staff are highly recommended. To register or for more information, call (276) 940-2674. Pre-registration is required. Cost is $5 per person. This program is open to anyone age 8 and up. For your comfort and safety appropriate footwear is required, no flip-flops, crocs, or sandals.
11 a.m. – Kids in the Creek. What’s under that rock? We’ll search the creek for underwater creatures and explain their roles in the environment. Wear closed-toed shoes and expect to get wet. Meet at the Stock Creek Interpretive Center.
1 p.m. – 3 p.m. – Green Carnival. Help keep Natural Tunnel clean by coming out to the Going Green Carnival. Enjoy an afternoon full of carnival games, crafts, and memories. Each game or craft will teach you a little about how to reduce, reuse, and recycle. Each activity will require a ticket in order to participate. Tickets can be obtained by handing in trash or litter lying around the park. Meet at the Visitor Center.
